This handsome mirror frame embellished with flowering vines was quite tattered before we got our hands on it. Quite a few of the flowers were missing, but thanks to the fact that we have old moulds at our disposal, we were able to re-create them. The frame was silver-plated. Silver-plating was often chosen because it was less costly than gold-plating.

But the frame would be much more beautiful if it were gold-plated. Therefore, we gave it a layer of orange lacquer and in doing so, achieved the desired effect, because orange on silver has the appearance of… gold.
